Mark DeCozio was born into a musical family in Hartford, Connecticut. His mother Mary was a classically trained pianist and his father Mike an operatic tenor. His first instrument was drums, which he started playing at age 8. After moving to Pennsylvania at 12, the guitar caught his attention, to which he later added piano. After high school he was introduced to the Dennis Sandole school of jazz, and studied with guitarist Joe Federico and saxophonist Larry McKenna. He studied formally at the prestigious Hartt School of Music, under the tutelage of Jackie Byard and Jackie McLean. Mark has performed extensively on the East Coast, from the Americana Hotel in Miami Beach to the Copa Cabana in New York City. He played in legendary guitarist Pat Martino's band from '84-'85. He has composed music for the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival as well as numerous commercials. After moving to the Phoenix area in 2000, Mark has performed regularly at the Phoenician Resort. A single dad, he lives in Mesa, AZ with his 7 year old son Tony and Weimaraner Miles.

Love it! Terrific musicianship. Great addition to any jazz collection.

I love this CD. I have played it many times and when I am not playing it, I am listening to it in my mind. It is the perfect combination: musicians that really complement one another, and great standards that you love but don't hear too often. A great addition to any jazz collection!

Having known Mark in another time and space, this CD certainly conveys the musical maturity he has gained since then. To find lyrics in Spanish, pues, !Qué fenomenal!
