Markeeta was born and raised in Camden, New Jersey and educated in the Camden School system. She attended Camden County College and University of Phoenix. She has studied criminal justice, defensive tactics for law enforcement, business administration, mortgages and real estate. Actively working, in just about all of them searching and contemplating her place in the world. She also Managed a retail store for 13 years and thought she found her profession. Through it all, Markeeta kept a pen and pad, to write poetry and recited her material to others to get thier opinions.
After much positive feedback, Markeeta finally realized and acknowledged her God given talent for writing and her natural gift of poetry. She never dreamed, for one minute, that she would be able to become a writer and spoken word artist. Her performances have filled her and her audiences with joy and insight. It has taken Markeeta over 40 years to find her gift and share her blessings, but what's really important is that she is doing what she was created to do.
Much of what she writes is about her personal life journey, the things she has done, what she has learned and how she feels now. She has had many painful experiences in the past that she now shares through her works. Her testimony is proof of what God can do and what God has done, inspite of it all. She is grateful for her journey through the good and the bad, because it has shaped her into the Strong, God fearing woman she is today.
As you read her books, poetry and listen to her spoken words, her hope is that you find hope as she shares how she overcame her life struggles, painful experiences and hardships. May her life show you that with God ALL things are Possible ! She prays that you are blessed and favored, just as she is !
