Album Notes

Mark's affinity for the blues evolved from his father's daily listening of Blues records. Also, as a member of the Edgewood Senior High band as well as quarterback for the football teams, he was sold on real jazz after hearing Oscar Peterson, Rashann Roland Kirk, Les McCann, Eddie Harris, and David "Fathead" Newman at the Montreaux Jazz Festival where his school band was a participant. This trip motivated him to learn all he could about jazz. After researching the major innovators of Jazz it was clear who they were. Eventually,he decided to get out of the Army and stay in Germany as a leader of a jazz trio. He returned to the US to pursue a degree in education which has enabled him to pursue and build his jazz career in the D.C and Baltimore region thus far. His website currently is:myspace.com/markmosleyband, on (youtube:mark mosley quartet) He has recently signed an endorsement contract with D'angelico guitars. He will be added to their artist roster. The music heard here was originally planned as a demo. It garnered so much attention that he had the graphics upgraded. Mark plans to feature his singing on his next project as well as more original music by him. He believes that Jazz is an attitude that could save the planet. Those who won't help to promote"real" Jazz are often not the ones who care for the welfare of others outside of their cliques. Mark believes Jazz is a gift sent to show how a democracy in it's truest form can work.
