About the Artist

Mark Muretisch creates a unique sound, from ballads and contemporary pop/rock to blues and acoustic folk. A Southwestern Pennsylvania native, Mark’s style is mainly rooted in traditional popular musical forms of the twentieth century. His musical influences span decades, with the most significant being the male vocalists, vocal groups, and classic rock bands of the 1960’s and 70’s. As a musician, Mark is skilled in various instruments, from keyboards to acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin and bass guitar. His songs express themes of hope, love, and relationship and are presented in a variety of styles appropriate for any event or social gathering and for audiences of all ages.

About the CD

Mark's songwriting has been focused on themes of love, life and relationship. For this project he was first inspired to write 'Fabulous', a song about personal struggle and how family, faith and friendship can take you beyond simply survival. The CD’s title track, 'Sunshine and Blue Sky', creates an image that naturally brings us happiness. In the song they are a metaphor for interdependency – relying on each other. Yet even when things were going great, sometimes 'Life Got in the Way'. What is so wonderful about being human is that we are self-aware and have the ability to sustain a positive attitude regardless of our circumstances - by choice - and 'Thanks to Love' we’ll get through. Ultimately we have the opportunity to make every moment memorable, and each 'Promise' can provide us with both happiness today and hope for tomorrow. 'Why?' was written in response to the senseless slaying of three Pittsburgh police officers on April 4, 2009, and is dedicated to his daughter, her husband (a police officer) and their new baby girl, born only two weeks before that tragic event. On the lighter side, 'It’s You' struggles with distinguishing dreams from reality while 'My Happy Place' recalls fond memories of summer. 'Placeholder Kids' tells the humorous story of how he and his wife began documenting their family tree that resulted in creating an interesting display on their living room wall. Completing the collection, 'Born a Stranger' is a re-release of an original favorite that takes us on life’s journey.
