Exploding out of Metro Detroit and into the music scene is the fresh vocal styling of Mark Nikollaj. This bright talent hails from Sterling Heights and has recently released his debut album, entitled “Affliction,” which is ranked as a top seller on CDBaby.com music store.

Mark got his start singing at talent shows and has progressed over the years to produce a unique sound that deftly blends Urban Pop, R&B, and a cacophony of harmonies on Affliction. When asked why he chose the album title, he responds “I was looking for a word that would represent pain and things of that sort… affliction was the last piece to a puzzle and it fit perfect”. Once this young up and comer decided to begin making music, he started with writing. He has written all 12 songs on his debut effort, drawing on his upbringing as well as the personal triumphs and setbacks that have affected him as he ambitiously works towards becoming the next big thing.

His music cannot be described as sounding just like another artist. Instead, his sound is a pulsating blend of beats and melodies; the sound you hear on the album is the same thing you’ll hear when you catch a glimpse of the electrifying performance he gives on stage. When asked to compare his sound, people often suggest Justin Timberlake, Craig David, and Usher. His rapid rhythm and high falsettos guarantee a different listening experience on each track.

Mark has been a mainstay on the MySpace Music Top 10 for Urban and R&B music. When not performing at the hottest clubs, Mark is lending his vocal talents to other aspiring artists and rappers heading out of Detroit. He is a singing/writing force, and his music is both accessible and marketable on a wide array of stations; Top 40, Pop, Hip-Hop/R&B, the list continues. He is a young artist who is barely 21 and has the potential and talent to become the next breakout crossover hit from Detroit, immediately bringing to mind entertainment superstars such as Kid Rock and Eminem.
