Uplifting Electronica / Chillout
100% Homegrown Grooves and Soundscapes
Composer and percussionist Mark Preston first made a name for himself playing drums for bands in the Mid-Atlantic club scene. Preston then relocated to inner city Boston and traded his rock 'n' roll for music of a different beat. Inspired by the downtempo grooves of Japan's Caia and the ambient chamber rock of California's The Album Leaf, he began creating atmospheric music full of textural builds and intensive beats.
In the spring of 2006, Preston was awarded a four-month residency at the Contemporary Music Center, the nation's only artists' colony for musicians and entertainment industry executives on the island of Martha's Vineyard, MA. "...and it will rise with the sun" represents Preston's first year working with digital music. With the release of this album, Preston hopes to meet and connect with other like-minded musicians.

short but sweet

I need to get this off my chest: there are less than 35 minutes of music on this CD. What is there is very good to excellent. Fans of Ulrich Schnauss will be pleased. There is a good mix of songs, and the CD just gets stronger as it progresses. Up-island and Paint Vibrant Colors are wonderful. If it were longer, I'm sure I'd have gone to 5 stars, the music is that good.

I really liked this album, in particular Up-Island, and the title track...andit will rise with the sun. The album title is fitting for exactly what it claims-a sunrise and some headphones. The music feels epic, and like each track should be in a movie, but in each movie, the song would be in the best part of the movie. I hope that makes sense.
