Album Notes

About "The Night In Black & White" - I recorded this music in a small studio along the Rocky Mountain front range foothills overlooking the plains. The CD is a mixture of my own songs and songs written by others that I love to play in the solo setting. The "vibe" is generally introspective, coming from that very quiet, late night space. The night time brings a remarkable energy to music and we tried to do most of the sessions after dark.

Mark Sloniker's recordings have earned critical acclaim, both nationally and internationally, appearing on ABC and ESPN television sports specials, National Public Radio programming such as "Music from the Hearts of Space" and "Morning Edition" as well as earning placement on Billboard Magazine's national sales charts. His music has reached "Top Ten" positions on three national radio air play charts in the U.S., as well as receiving air play in Spain, Japan, Germany and Canada.
When not producing his own music, Mark has served as featured accompanist for former NBC "Tonight Show" host Steve Allen and Los Angeles Philharmonic principal flutist James Walker, as well as performed with jazz bassist, trombonist and composer Chris Brubeck. He has performed in concert alongside Billy Taylor (Denver Center for the Performing Arts at the Governor's Awards for Excellence in the Arts), Bob James (Red Rocks Amphitheater) and The Pat Methany Group (Toronto Jazz Festival).

Mark earned a bachelor's degree in music therapy from Colorado State University and studied composition and piano at the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music, U.C. Santa Barbara's College of Creative Studies and The Berklee College of Music in Boston.
