Album Notes

First off, this is not a Halloween cd. Of course, this would fit right in with your Halloween collection but this labor of love is a musical tribute to the classic monsters of the silver screen. The songs in one way or another pay homage to the likes of Dracula, Frankenstein, the Creature From the Black Lagoon and even the cover of "Moonglow" is devoted to the Wolfman. "Experiment in Terror", a great piece by Henry Mancicni, was the opening theme music to the late night horror show Chiller Theater out of Pittsburgh,PA hosted by Pittsburgh's own Bill Cardille, alias Chilly Billy. Chilly Billy is mentioned in a couple of the original songs as is legendary publicist, Forrest J. Ackerman or "Uncle Forry", as known by his many friends and fans. Uncle Forry had a large part in keeping alive the memories of the classic horror and sci-fi genre.
The music itself is upbeat and energetic. It has the feel of late 50s, early 60s rock and roll with just a touch of blues save for "Moonglow", but hey, you have to have at least one slow song on a cd, right? The song “Make-up Man”, is a tribute to the early pioneers of horror make-up, like the incredible Lon Chaney and the great Jack Pierce. Even if classic horror or sci-fi isn't your thing, you'll be sure to tap your feet or even sing along when the music starts. It's just good clean fun! So, put the cd in your favorite player and turn it up and prepare to enjoy "Mark Statler and His Creepy Classic Chiller Band".

REVIEWS

Just Plain Fun!

My daughter (age 10) happened to be with me when I on the site to purchase this CD, and we played all the previews. She has driven me absolutely nuts. The CD hasn't even arrived yet, but she has played, and replayed those previews more times than I can count. Your CD previews has overtaken the Starwars acapella and all of the teen bop videos that used to be played on youtube. I guess its a good thing that I like the songs too. I cant wait to hear the whole CD. I wish we could download the songs! Im not sure what genre to put your CD in, but it reminds me of songs like Witchdoctor, Itsy bitsy teeny weenie Yellow Polka dot bikini, and Charlie Brown. Songs that were just good clean fun. The songs have a good beat, everyone loves them, and your not afraid to let the kids hear them. This CD would be perfect for playing on Radio Disney.
