Fun lyrics, beautiful harmoines...
This children's CD is full of enchanting stories with themes about baseball, bullies on the play ground, the boogye man or the sweet little sparrow, my personal favorite! Each song is sung with Marla's beautiful voice layered with tight harmonies. The musicianship is top notch for children and parents alike!

Very radio friendly
Plants is wonderful! Marla sounds fabulous, as usual, and her band (and arrangements) rocks! I especially like "Whenever Celia Sings" and "Sambas Swaying in the Trees." Each song is lovingly crafted and well-produced -- all I can really offer is my congratulations! I will definitely play a selection or two on my radio show in the near future."

In fact, I should have told you, but the family & I have been listening to 'Talk to Plants' quite a bit, and it just gets better and better! No kidding, I get chills from some of those songs, the melodies are so … stimulating. Great stuff.

Heartfelt and inspirational
What a heartfelt and inspirational CD you have produced! I love the positive lyrics for IN MY POCKET. The song, I LOVE TO TALK TO PLANTS is delightfully orchestrated with cleaver lyrics. The SAMBA song got me swaying. Yes, each tune stands on it's own. Way to go!
Please give Les Julian a big hug for me. ( I met Les years ago.)
Here is wishing you much success and lots of great response to this joyous and fun filled CD.
Hugs, Kisses, n' pats on the back!

Marla knocks another one out of the park!
When I reviewed Marla Lewis’ first CD, “We All Laugh in the Same Language,” in April of 2005 for Walking Oliver I said the following,
“It has all the necessary elements to make a great children’s music album: lyrics that speak eloquently and entertainingly combined with melodies that are memorable and singable.”
This more than holds true for I Love to Talk to Plants, Marla’s terrific new CD release on her own PlumJuice Records.
Beginning with the wonderfully infectious "In My Pocket", Marla’s pop sensibilities are in fine form and kids would have to be pretty jaded indeed not to find themselves moving their bodies and singing along. I might even say the same for their parents!
Following the winning formula of her first CD, Marla mixes the styles with Billy Joel-esque pop sitting very comfortably next to Andrews Sister-style trio singing which in turn is followed by a very danceable samba number which is then torn up by a Cars-like rocker. Through it all Marla’s lovely melodies soar, the musicians play with a real understanding of style and musicality (special kudos here to guitarist and recording engineer Bob Stander!) and best of all Marla’s voice is a thing of beauty and expression, with an uncanny sense of intonation that many singers would envy.
All of the songs here are finely crafted and every kid will have his or her favorites but my personal stand-outs are "Whenever Celia Sings", "Sambas Swaying in the Trees", "The Weirdest Dreams", "Mighty Jackie, The Strikeout Queen" (the alternate mix given as a bonus track) and "The Boogey Woogey Man".
My only complaint–– and this is really not a complaint at all but just a selfish whim–– is that Marla’s singing is so well controlled that just once I’d like to hear her really let loose and belt something bluesy. Ah, well, I can dream, can’t I?

One of the best sounding children’s CD’s EVER recorded
Every song on this CD is picture perfect, clear and wonderful. Flawless, I am not kidding. Great vocals, unusual songs served in a grand buffet of styles. Marla wins many awards (including the ones I have not won, yet) and this CD will continue the winning streak for sure. Buy this CD, buy it now and if you don’t have her first CD…add it to the cart today and enjoy Marla Lewis!

I Love To Talk To Plants
It's nice that you talk to plants but how wonderful it is that you sing to us!!! This collection of tales and tunes has me dancing with each selection played. The stories are what make the music extra special. There are historical themes and imaginative metaphors, all giving these catchy tunes substance and merit!! This recording is where craft transcends to art. This is not just for kids! The sound quality is for the experienced listener - Ear candy for those who appreciate musical styles from around this beautiful world.
Thanks for bringing more of that beauty into my world Marla!
