Album Notes

Marney's first solo release "Again" was released in June of 2006. Created for and dedicated to the Irish dance community, the record has enjoyed much success. Marney is proud to be an active part of the Irish community in Nashville, TN, and is on the board of Irish Arts of Middle Tennessee. Visit their website at www.irishartstenn.com and become a Chairde (friend) of Irish Arts.

Marney is Atlanta born and raised but lived for a number of years in the Frankfurt, Germany area where her career in music truly began. Marney's background is classically based with a degree in classical Music Performance for Flute and Piccolo, and a minor in piano. Celtic music was a welcome relief from the hectic and extremely competitive classical world which she found herself bound to and yearning to extricate herself from. Learning tunes by ear, though challenging, changed her perception of her instruments and her performance and continued to develop her technical and melodic abilities. A former dancer, Marney's exposure to Irish step dance and the greats in Irish music, such as Lunasa, Altan and Dervish, led her to begin crafting her own unique sound that is a blend of electronica and celtic music, and influences such as Radiohead, VAST, U2 and Tori Amos are evident. Production and programming are the red thread of Marney's project (13B) and the talents of her producer Brett Hardin at Olive Bar Studio and her own engineering skills bring her sound to brilliant life.

Praise for "Again!":

Wow. I just got through listening to the cd on the way home and Wow. I could not get as good a listen to it in the pub as I could in the car and Wow. Brilliant. It is so good, so cool, so lovely. And so cool the way you organized it - truly a cd by a dancer for dancers!!! It's great to listen to or to dance to. I am very excited to share it. ~Rebecca, Nashville, TN

I just wanted you to know I purchased your CD last night and played it on the way home and love it!! It’s really really great when a DANCER produces Irish music because they understand it so well and this is such a great tool for practice and it’s easy on the ears!!! Great listening! ~Kelly, Nashville, TN

PERFECT in every way.... Great for my listening and excellent for my boys dancing. The different timings provide fantastic timing for their dancing practice. Would recommend to all irish dancers.

I love it. I listen to this CD at the end of a hard day when I need to unwind and just get lost in the imagery and sounds of the green hills of Ireland and rocky crags of Scotland. It's a wonderful and lovely journey into the intricacies of Celtic music, like beautifully woven celtic knotwork.

Adding interest to a full cd of the same (or similiar) solo instrument and genre can be a difficult feat, but Marney is able to add variety of color and texture to each track making the whole CD engaging. Congrats Marney on a job well done!
