Martha Chaney has been playing piano for over 60 years. Almost entirely self taught, she gives credit to Almighty God for her talent and abiding love of music. Performing mostly for church services, very few Sundays have passed that she was not happily employed by some church or other. Her beautiful and majestic piano stylings have inspired many congregations over the years, and won her many friends and admirers. Many will remember the wonderful and warm years at Harmony Baptist Church in south Wichita, Kansas, where, led by husband and pastor Charles Chaney's beloved sermons, and Martha's lovely accompaniments, church member and visitor alike were drawn closer to their Creator.
We hope you enjoy Martha's interpretations of these gospel classics, as well as some newer compositions. She is joined by her son Larry, on a light-hearted version of "Where Should I Go", presented here as a piano/guitar duet. Her oldest daughter Linda, is featured on an uplifting vocal and recitation of "There's Something About That Name". Featured in a duet that they performed in churches at the young age of 6 and 4, respectively, are Larry and Linda on the classic "Dear Jesus, Abide With Me". Cindy, the youngest of Martha's four children, joins Larry and Linda in creating a church choir on the invitational medley "I Surrender All/Softly and Tenderley".
