Album Notes

It all started when I read about the RPM Challenge on their website over the holidays. It's a site that challenges you to write and record an album's worth of material during the month of February. There are no prizes, just the satisfaction of getting it done and the thrill of knowing there are hundreds more musicians and bands doing the very same thing. I really liked the idea and mentally committed to it. I came up with the idea of writing a collection of nautical themed songs on my dobro tuned in open C, and I would call it The Open Sea. So on February 1, 2009, I set out with my dobro and began this songwriting journey. I had no idea how challenging it would be, especially given the confines of nautical themes, a dobro tuned to open C, and 28 days.
