1963 was a big year for instrumental guitar music, particularly surf music. This was the year that found Pipeline by The Chantays, Wipeout by The Surfaris, Bombora by The Atlantics, Dance On & Foot Tapper by The Shadows all on the "hit parade".
This was popular music. That was until The Beatles arrived. However, I’ve always loved the sound of the surf guitar and this is my tribute to that music.
The guitars and amps I used on this recording were a 1963 Fender Jaguar (black), a 1963 Fender Stratocaster (candy apple red), a 1963 Fender Vibroverb (2 x 10" speakers) and a 1963 Fender Outboard Reverb Tank. All of these instruments just happen to be from 1963. This was not planned. It just worked out that way because they all had a unique sound that attracted me to them. I played the Fender Jaguar on 95% of this CD. This is the first time that I had played a Jaguar and discovered an amazing sound.
So here is a little 1963 "Revenge of the Surf Guitar". I hope you enjoy what you hear.

Simply an amazing album. I am an avid collector of surf guitar music and this CD is astounding. It's perfect whether you want to introduce someone new to how good surf guitar music can be, or it's a virtuoso performance for the die-hard, nothing-less-than-the-best-will-do afficionado. BUY IT!!!

great modern surf album

First do be aware that Martin re-does 3 or 4 songs from a previous Atlantics cd. The songs are different here. I like the drums sound better on the Atlantics Cd's. These sound like electronic drums, the cymbals are not as crisp as on older style surf discs, think of the surfari's. I only do this as positive criticism, would like to see Martin do one with the Atlantics drum sound. His Guitar playin is spot on, he has a real handle for this style of music. Love the spankin sound he gets from the Jaguar, Fender guitar. Especially love the way it is packaged, the photos and design. Hope we hear a new Cd soon from this Artist!!! Love it.
