Album Notes

With a fresh collection of tone poems, this independent guitarist/composer fuses melodic expression with harmonic sophistication to bring forth an album of well crafted instrumentals for steel string guitar. All tracks, but for one, were recorded without overdubs. Heartfelt, soulful acoustic guitar.

Oh my! Oh my! Omi and Opa

Martin is such a versatile player and this CD highlights the many sides of this talented and yet to be discovered musician. This CD, comprised largely orginal music, captures the essence of a composer and arranger who has just begun to stretch his musical wings in the world of fingerstyle guitar. If he continues to write and play tunes like "The Optimisstic Pessimist" and "Omi and Opa," I will soon be able tell me friends I knew his music before he was famous. Great job Martin.

This thoughtful collection cannot be merely labeled as one of a technically masterful artist putting his chops up for display. Martin’s innate ability to convey and incite a variety of profound emotions in his listener simply with the stroke of his hand is, clearly, what sets him far apart from others in his discipline. The aggregate of this compilation is that of a deeply-felt catharsis. This CD has quickly become one of my favorites and I highly recommend it to someone craving a thoroughly enjoyable and meaningful acoustic experience.

REVIEW OF CONJURING THE MUSE
author: CAVEMAN DAN

What a treat to discover an example of contempory, classical compositions, crossing many boundries of influences from european to americana. The most difficult task would be to try and limit these compositions to any one specific entitiy. One moment you feel lik eyour in a Irish Dance Hall dancing feverishly to foot stomping energies and the next you feel like a floating bird in a warm summer breeze. All of this without the use of electronica and other studio gimmicks. The very organic sounds deliver plenty of energy through use of logical, musical truths. Listenin CD makes you wonder why the name MARTIN GANGL is not familiar, yet the music seems very much within the descriptions of the conventional genres it represents. There is a definative thread of the fabric used in this musical quilt, all to keep the listener warm and comfy. I have shared this cd with many who all feel the same excitement for "discovering" this new artist. This is a "MUST HAVE" for anybody who enjoys music as an art form. Sign me up for the next release!
