In 2011 Martin Kay and David Reaston spent one hour in the studio, spontaneously laying down four tracks, recording the result of many years' informal rehearsing and jamming. Billow presents a gentle melodicism, relaxing and unthreatening, with close attention to each tone. The word conjures a picture of branches swaying softly in a late afternoon sun. Entomology has a harder edge, the soft melodicism replaced by urgent darting movements. Break Away (Explorations) is a rendition of David Reaston's graphic score, producing some otherworldy and nasty sounds with flurrying technique. Monarch Butterfly revives the peaceful atmosphere, with its delicate and graceful sound world.
