Martin Paris is a talented and well rounded acoustic guitar player who's music is most inspiring. Musically his songs range from melodic to up tempo as he shows an excellent feel for song arrangements. With his debut CD, "Influenced," fans have called his music catchy, beautiful, haunting, and thought provoking.
Martin initally learned his craft from his late father, Ed Paris, who taught him at age twelve. Martin began to follow his favorite guitarists. In his early years, influences included the Beatles, Doobie Brothers, James Taylor, Loggins & Messina, and Eric Clapton.
"The acoustic guitar inspires me to create a musical journey. As I got older, my experimentation with alternate tunings led me to some of the great finger style players."
Some of Martin's musical influences include Acoustic Alchemy, Phil Keaggy, and Tommy Emmanuel. Current favorites include Peppino D'Agostino, and Laurence Juber, who Martin opened up for in local concerts.
Born in Southern California, Martin grew up on the Central Coast of California. Martin resides in the quiet community of Templeton, with his wife and four children. A UPS driver by day, he began playing live at churches and from there he started performing at weddings, wineries, and live concerts.
His debut CD in 2000 titled "Influenced" received a great reception and started a local buzz among wineries and local venues. Martin gained popularity playing at places such as the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center in San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay Harbor Festival, and the Lazy Local Summer Concert series at Castoro Cellars in Templeton.
In 2005, Martin released his second CD, "Turning Point." The CD launch party and concert at Castoro Cellars in Templeton was a wonderful event. Martin had the sold-out audience captivated. "You could have heard a pin drop" said one concert goer. The CD features ten of the eleven compositions written by Martin, and one song written by Laurence Juber. James Jensen of Acoustic Music Resource reveals "..a lovely product inside and out ".
Martin participated in the First Annual Winery Music Awards, helping to launch its inaugural venue, playing to sold out crowds, and being the standing room only crowd favorite.
Some recent highlights in 2008 include, a Fathers Day show at Castoro Cellars , opening up for Laurence Juber, and recording for a local television show at Charter Communications. His band also plays at packed crowds for the local "Concert in the Park" series
Martin's instrumentals are originals often inspired by his family and composed from the heart. "Many compositions are my emotional response to events in my life. My music is a gift from God I love to share."
Look for his new Solid Air records release "Guitarist Off The Vine" available summer of 2009 through Acoustic Music Resource.
