BLUE MOON OVER MEXICO
Here I go
Down this old road again
This time she says she loves me
I'm willing to pretend
It's been a long cold season
In the land of broken hearts
Perhaps this tale will end
the way I wanted it to start
Blue moon over Mexico
Do you remember that girl down in Tampico
Will she ever be mine
Am I just waisting time
I just can't bring myself
to let her go
Working in her daddy's sugar fields near Vera cruz
My summer in the southland
turned into the sugarland blues
When she ran off with Jesus
I got drunk for forteen days
Damn near forgot my name
By then I didn't need one any way
She called me yesterday
Said she was sorry I left
She said she knew I really loved her
Scared her half to death
Said she bought my airline ticket
looks like I'm on my way
I'll see you in Tampico on
April fools day

WIPPOORWILL
Whats one more sad song
To a Whippoorwill
Theres always one more town
up over the hill
No promices made
No promises broken
We left the door open
She slipped away
Off in the distance
the highway sighs
as it rolls of to thesouth
Leaving me hear
Beneath a waning moon
No protection from myself
A lost Irish boy
A Mexican girl
Two restless hearts
Two different worlds
Didn't we know
This day would come
My songbird has flown
To the land of the sun
With a long distance smile
and a tear in her eye
She says her last good bye
Some how she's learned
how to hide her heart
Why oh why can't I
Theres always one more town
up over the hill
Whats one more sad song
to a Whippoorwill

CALYPSOTOWN
I just caught my breakfast off the pier
No I don't wish you were here
I just met an Island girl All smilles and curls
And I get a big old welcome feelin
off of every one I meet
Down here In this Calypsotown
Don't picture me wearin a frown
This concludes my trip
I'm jumpin ship
I'm here to stay
Down here in this calypso town
I know our love was growin thin
I don't lay the blame on him
I aint even mad at you
My new friends will pull me through
as it all turns out dear
Everything has turned out rather sweet
Down here In this Calypsotown
Don't picture me wearin a frown
See I'm a brand new man
Bare feet in the sand
I'm here to stay
Down here in this calypso town
Now I don't want to say mean things
Let the fufure bring what the future brings
I hope it's true love you've found
Not just a run around
I am going to miss the dog
Make sure she gets enough to eat
So long from Calypsotown
Don't picture me wearing a frown
If you ever think of me
just think southern sea
cause I'm here to stay
Down here in Calypsotown

Good Stuff - Almost as good as Cactus Choir
author: Greg in Orange County
I just had to try this CD since I am head-over-heals crazy for the Cactus Choir CD. This CD can't possibly equal that one but there are a few standout tracks here - Blind Date @ Juanito's, West All Day, and Dark Eyed Lady of The Southland. This is a little mellower, more James Taylorish than the Cactus Choir release. Even now the songs are still growing on me.
