Album Notes

Marty Sims, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has brought forth a collection of songs that brings the fun of 80’s pop and the sophisticated style of 90’s rock together in one CD, The Southern Way.

Marty says “I wanted a fun CD, one that would reach a broad audience. I didn’t want to hear another collection of songs by angst ridden suburbanites singing about how bad their parents pist them off when they were kids. Grow up already!”

Inspired by the Power Pop band of the late 70’s and the New Wave bands of the 80’s, Marty has written a smart, witty family friendly CD harking back to the likes of Crowed House, Bryan Adams, and Rick Springfield.

The Southern Way was recorded at two studios, Flamingo Studios in Tallahassee, Florida, and SRO Studios in Fontana, California. “The vibe to me was ‘southern’. North Florida is as close to the Deep South as one can get. It has its own ‘southern’ vibe. And then I found myself recording in Southern California and immersed in another kind of ‘southern’ vibe…..hence the Southern Way…a totally great experience for me.”

Marty has been playing music for over 25 years and has been the opening act for such bands as Dokken, The Producers, and The Plimsouls. He’s written TV show theme songs and commercial “jingles” and is currently writing the film score for an independent film project that starts production in June of 2006 in the North Dallas area.
