Album Notes

Arrangements and Korg Karma Keyboard by Chris Stolpe. Harmony Vocals by Jennifer Peart.

"...a strong contender for general listening collections. Her fluid voice is perfectly complemented by Jennifer Peart's vocals and Chris Stolpe's keyboard accompaniment. The songs, all original, vary in style, encompassing jazz, folk, rock, and even a bit of country. Her play list includes a variety of themes, including a song about colors, bubble baths, an ogre, a dancing ball for dolls, as well as familiar storybook characters like Baba Yaga, the Big Bad Wolf, and Humpty Dumpty among others, all with their own twists. Sleeping Beauty, for instance, learns that her beauty lies within her, and is encouraged to open her own eyes..."
-Kristen Martindale, School Library Journal

"Gentle folk-flavored tunes with a pinch of love and appreciation for the child within us all."
-John Wood, Kidzmusic.com

"Each original tune holds wonderful wholesome lyrics set off by beautiful melodic voices. It gives new meaning to folk music. Children of all ages will enjoy this delightful CD."
-Janet Stokes, The Film Advisory Board

"Keep making wonderful music!"

Great to dance to...but also soothing. My twin girls love the song "Deep In The Water"...the one about the octopus! My oldest daughter's favorite song is "Sleeping Beauty." When she listens to it, she likes acting out that she is Sleeping Beauty. We love to blast Mary Kaye's music loud and dance!

Mary Kaye's music has an honesty, complexity, exuberance and independent beauty that will challenge both children and grown-ups who listen. I highly recommend it! "Colors" is a song that makes me want to drag Mary with me when I teach poetry to kids as an artist in residence. Mary Kaye must have the "hello-to-life" poetry in her soul-it's in her music.

This is a beautiful first CD for Mary Kaye. She has a finger on the pulse of the interests of young children. There's lots of good material for preschool and music teachers. Her voice is folksy and lovely. If you like this CD, check out Mouse Jamboree- another great kid's CD!
