Album Notes

Mary Wiles "Why Not Take A Chance"
If you are looking for more than a pretty face with big major label bucks and production wizardry behind an artist, then look no farther. Mary Wiles is one of the few artists left to be able to do it all. Not only does she play seven of the instruments on this CD, having arranged and produced it herself, but she wrote all the songs, two of which have already won songwriting awards. She has won a page full of songwriting, vocal and performance awards, some which are from the Billboard Song Contest. She has toured extensively with her band and opened for Loretta Lynn, Tracy Byrd, and the 60's hit making group The Association. "Why Not Take A Chance", released on Bluetail Records, is Mary's second CD, and she hits us hard with a great gospel variety rock album. You cannot listen to this CD without taking a part of Mary's deepest heartfelt lessons into your own heart, and start singing along with the hooky, inspiring lyrics. There is a refreshing variety of musical styles, ranging from kicking heartland rock, rhythm and blues, folk, country and a beautiful ballad. The vocals are clear and powerful, the lyrics are transparent and genuine. A fast paced album, each song compliments the next, providing enjoyable variety and showing a wide range of musical creativity. Mary plays blues harmonica, guitars (12 string, acoustic and slide), violin, banjo, mandolin, and keyboards. Other instrumentation on the album is electric lead guitar, flute, and drums. Recorded in Seattle and mixed in Nashville, this recording that took over four years to create will be one of your favorite albums. Visit Mary's website at marywiles.com.

Variety of styles, from country to good ol rock & roll to gospel. So motivational, makes me feel like I can tackle the hard tasks of the day. Encourages me. Mary plays many instruments, great blues harmonica, violin, banjo, guitar, keyboards, rocking guitar leads. Beautiful voice, so sincere in her lyrics, I feel I know her. Melodic songs I sing along with. Great gospel album.

This has got to be one of my favorite CD's of all time... when I first got it I played it over and over until I memorized the words. Songs to sing along with, good old rock & roll, plus some country rock, folk, gospel. A very Spiritual album that encourages you to take a step forward in your life to new and better things. One of the songs, "Waymaker" speaks to someone who has given up hope or is facing a huge challenge... I called my sister who has been fighting cancer and played it for her on the telephone it was so powerful... all she could say was "wow". Mary's blues harmonica is outstanding, as well as the other instruments she plays on there.... violin, banjo, mandolin, guitars, keyboards and slide guitar. Uplifting, inspiring, encouraging album.
