Album Notes

"Mary explores the southeastern clawhammer repertoire on no less than six different banjos – a gut-strung Goldtone Elite Classic, a Gibson RB250, a Deering White Shell Laydie, a Bacon Professional, a Cedar Mountain, and a gourd banjo. With all of these distinctive voices, I couldn’t help but feel I was out on the porch, swapping tunes with at least five or six other musicians, each boasting his or her own stylisitics, but each with a deep understanding of the same exquisite regional form." Andy Rubin (Banjo Newsletter/September 2006)

Again, Mary Z has put together another great CD. The mix along with the use of diffent instruments makes a great listening CD. The use of banjo strung with nylon strings produces an old-time sound that creates a musical picture that sounds as if it was recorded 80 years ago. I also purchased the tab from Mary Z directly to learn some of the tunes my self.
