Album Notes

"When you do the common things in life in an uncommon way, you command the attention of the world." Like the saying, Masala has been an experience in re-inventing stereotypes both in the local music industry but also within ourselves. Our home-base is in Cincinnati, OH but our roots are both international & across the US -a diversity that continues to "spice up" our music. Our sound is pop - the melodies themselves are often derived from high-energy guitar-riffs that seem to be surrounding, almost trying to contain our dark stories of love, pain, healing or joy…-You won't see anyone like us doing what we do and rallying people behind what we stand for and how much fun it can all be to experience .. Masala has been very successful locally as a performing act with shows at cool venues like York Street Cafe, Sawyer Point, Madison Theater, Southgate House, Barrelhouse, Jillians and on.. We've opened up for several national acts specifically Cowboy Mouth on their 2001 tour and Dropline on their recent radio tour with Q102. We've done shows around the country in places such as San Fran and Miss, and are looking to tour on the East coast as well later this year. We've also released our first record a couple of years back “Who's the Monkey Now” (2000)which was featured in Cincinnati's “Our Music” local festival and CD. Mike Breen of City Beat declared it one of the best CDs in Cincinnati in 2000. Larry Nager, music expert for the Cincinnati Enquirer gave us a flattering review of our CD. This past August, we were a featured band at the Midwest Music Festival in Lexington, KY, and we were chosen to be on the festival compilation CD. We have also been featured on 97.7 WOXY radio shows Local Lixx and Homebrew. We are looking to grow and expand our music to touch all communities… They say that you can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation so come out and see us – upcoming shows, band information, merchandise can be gathered via our web-site: http://www.masala.cc or or you can email us at masala@post.com Discography “Who's the Monkey Now” – 2000“ “Beautiful Is Sometimes Good” – December 2002
