Masguda's disc features seventeen original instrumental compositions and ballads for both classical and modern instruments. This new collection was inspired by folk music from Tartar (Tatar) elders as well as shaman medicine and sound healers in the region.
For those new to Euro-Asian music - the "Land of the Tartars" was centrally located at the crossroads of trade between all cultures of the continents. It was a rest stop near the Silk Road. Genghis Khan also included this land in his empire.
Rosette Gault, American author, critic, and visual artist says of these modern works with ancient roots: "Listen for a rich texture of diverse yet complementary melodies woven together in harmony as carefully crafted as the highest quality great grandmothers lace. These haunting and lyric melodies will lift you up and away to places of deep sentiment and return you back home refreshed from the visit."
Masguda Shamsutdinova is a famous Tatar composer. She was born in Bashkortstan. She graduated from the Kazan State Conservatoire in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Fables is a dramatic, atmospheric work which matches the work of any Hollywood composer. It's the soundtrack of peoples who have lived and travelled under the wide open skies. When you listen to track 5 Gemini, one recalls the native american.Tracks 10 and 14 uses the choir to excellent effect. It reminds one of Jerry Goldsmith's score from the film Legend. Track15 would make Ravel sit up in his grave, spit out the clay and have a listen, beautiful. So wake up people and send this woman to Hollywood, only if she would wish it, of course.
