I feel uncomfortable talking about myself from the third person because I think that one person talking about me is plenty. Growing up in Catonsville, MD with a younger sister and educators for parents, I happily took piano lessons for 8 years, developing my love for music. After my family went through the death of my father, I stopped taking formal lessons, but started to develop ideas about spirituality that would eventually influence my own music. Traveling to Boulder, Colorado for my collegial years helped me to solidify a love for the mountains as well as a starting point for writing my first album,” Brains in Bubbles”. By the end of my 4 years, however, I got the itch to move back East with some very close friends, hence my last two years teaching in Bedford-Stuyvesant, a neighborhood in Brooklyn. This is where I spent the most challenging years of my life, thus far. It’s also where I recorded the album Moons & Stars Convene with Craig Levy as a kind of tribute to all of the amazing people and places I have encountered. I have been lucky enough to travel to Africa, where I climbed Kilimanjaro, and India, where I discovered the birth of Eastern philosophies. I have been luckiest, though, in always being surrounded by people who have supported me and loved me in every way. Now that I’ve finished with a tour in a grease-powered RV with my roommates in New York (www.thebreakfreeproject.org), I’ve landed in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where I’ll be for the time being.

catchy and poetic
author: Mavi
Every song on this album has something totally new and exciting going on! My favorite tracks are Song of the Dying, Honeycombs and Tunnels but each one will have you "surfing on an astral plane." Julia Massey has an immense talent for writing poetry that evokes images of nature, the cosmos and a universal spirituality that unites us all. Buy this album-you'll be glad you did.

Julia's music is so powerful and interesting that i found myself listenning to all the time, even after i had just been jamming the same songs with her for hours. She is one of the sickest f**ks you will ever meet.
