The music of The Sunny Island follows the best traditions of Greek music:
* Rooted in the style of Zorba's Dance, Syrtaki, Rebetika or Laika
* Following the works of Mikis Theodorakis, George Dalaras, Tsitsanis or Zambetas
* Dancing on Syrto, Tsifteteli or Hasapiko rhythms
It contains 11 original tracks and one folk-dance (Hasaposerviko D). The traditional element is enhanced with excellent performance, imaginative arrangements and clear production.
Also, there are some interesting experiments:
* Elliniko Dzaz is a Bouzouki instrumental with a touch of Swing - think Django Reinhardt on Bouzouki
* Tsifteteli has a great arrangement, incorporating power-strings and some strong Drum'n'Bass - you'll be amazed of the universality of the Greek Bouzouki
* Misunderstanding is a track played entirely by two Bouzoukia - no other instruments; a gentle touch of Classical music - it's like a short trip to heaven, really.
Similar artists include: Hiotis, Tsitsanis, Nikolopoulos, Laykas, Lemonopoulos, Zampetas etc.

Thanks for the cd - I really like it and have listened to it several times while working! At the moment I have 3 favourites already - Let's Move, Tsifteteli and Elliniko Dzaz. I love the cover (of course) and it all looks good in my opinion.

Your music is also sunny, like the island.
author: Nikolay
Thank you very much, your music is very very nice. I have a bouzouki to, but for me it is a hobby (a hobby I love). I have many greek records and cds and cassettes, because for me it is the way to learn more songs. I will surely try to learn your tunes and play with your cd. I am not a good player but I enjoy to hear the sound of a bouzouki. Your music is also sunny, like the island. There is just only one thing wrong. It is not enough long. I suggest you to make three minutes tunes minimum. When it is good, it is never too long.

Mastoridis draws new life from ancient tones
author: Download.com
Editor's Review: Combining several old Mediterranean styles into neo-traditional compositions, Mastoridis draws new life from ancient tones. A typical piece features a Greek Bouzouki--a mellow, 8-stringed guitar relative--dancing over complex time signatures....
