If you like one track you'll like them all
author: Michael Ezzo
Mat Dickson creates a very poetic and cinematic music
which you'll easily identify as his own the moment you hear it.
On The Lighthouse Keeper, his first effort, he steers rather
well clear of heavy drumming, pop song structures, and vocals.
His music greets the ear as a sort of musical seascape watercolor.
Completely instrumental, the compositional elements comprise
thick layers of keyboard background, layered together with
echoing arpeggios and fluid solo electric guitar melodies,
the combined effect of which truly does conjure imagery of
lone lighthouse keepers and the sweeping waves of the ocean
tides. If you like one or two of these samples then I assure
you, you will love the whole recording.

If you love the sea you will adore this CD
author: Hilary Stevenson
When I return home after a stressful working day, this is the CD I like to play. I close my eyes and the sea comes to me in all its nuances through the music. Not all of us are lucky enough to live near the coast and watch the ever-changing colours and moods of the sea, but the Lighthouse Keeper does wonders for your imagination.

Excellent instrumental concept album - beautifully presented theme.
author: Norman McCourt - AMMA Issue 12
Excellent instrumental concept album dedicated to lighthouses, their keepers and their waters. Beautifully presented theme.
Certainly one of the most original and unique ideas to accompany eleven pieces of music that we have seen or heard in a long while. A larger than life theme.
Mat Dickson’s The Lighthouse Keeper is a deeply thought-through production echoing back to King Crimson days in its stark, lonely intensity.
Mat paints an indelible picture in our minds of the loneliness of the lighthouse keeper and life in this windswept but beautiful coastal region.
Accompanied by his amazing and haunting Fripp-like guitar work, the compositions introduce unforgettable themes, some of them with Celtic origins, that roll and sway on that lonely expanse of English/French water.
