Album Notes

Matthew began playing the piano at the age of four. As a young child, he studied at the Northwestern University Conservatory of Music in his native Chicago. Through the years, as his passion for music grew, he continued his study of the piano with a series of private teachers - classical and popular music.

At U.C.L.A., Matthew minored in music. He studied music theory, film scoring and ethnomusicology. While in college he became interested in world music - music indigenous to different cultures around the world.

Matthew's original keyboard music has evolved into a blend of classical, folk and world music - a style popularly called "new age" music. His music has been described as transcendental, lyrical, mystical, ethereal, passionate, and romantic.

Discography:
Matt's long-awaited debut CD, "Dawn of a New Day," was released February 1, 2004. This album is an excellent example of true minimalism with a masterful use of space and sound. "Dawn of a New Day" is solo keyboard with no overdubs or layering. The artist's original musical compositions cover the new age spectrum from the classically influenced "Dawn of a New Day," and "Canon in G," to the Native American inspired "West of Eden."
Matt's musical style has been compared to the instrumental
works of artists such as Enya and David Lanz.

I was amazed at this music... Matthew Alan Stuart is simply incredible. I took a chance on an unknown artist and I was blown away! His music is simple yet profound. He was able to express many of my most deelpy felt emotions and helped me say things that words could not. My lover and I were enraptured by the music as we listened together on a cold rainy night. All I can say is don't wait - but it now!

This CD was so entrancing and captivating that I literally thought there were lyrics to the music. Alan's music channels, inpires and creates. His CD gave me the gift of the universal mind speaking to me through his music. Very AWESOME!

A must have in your collection.

I normally don’t like “new-age” music. Too much of it sounds like insipid elevator music to really be passionate. Matthew Alan Stuart is the notable exception to the rule! His music is well composed, well performed, and most importantly speaks from the soul. His music evokes an emotive response and calls the listener to engage that part of the psyche which can only be touched by the ineffable. Matthew’s musicianship is simply exceptional. I particularly like “Equinox” and have found this to be music that allows me to take leave of my physical boundaries and experience that moment where time and space meet on the horizon of the eternal. Simply put: this is a must have in your collection.
