notes
Friends,
Studying birds takes a considerable amount of time and patience. Often I have found myself playing with a melody, or scratching some lyrics next to my field notes. The result - four years later - is Bird Songs, a tasty collection of campfire favorites!
These songs are the artistic culmination of thousands of hours of field research. They were written and recorded in 7 different countries!
Bird Songs is printed with the birds in mind - the packing contains no plastic (besides the CD itself), is composed of recycled content, and is printed with soy-based inks.
For every copy of Bird Songs I sell, I will donate $1.00 directly to conservation programs dedicated to preserving and protecting threatened bird habitats. These projects will follow conservation plans developed by Partners in Flight (www.partnersinflight.com).

author: Sam Richards, Ph.D.Dude. Nice tunes. It’s so great that you have an indelible child-like (AND PLAYFUL) fascination with the little things – including birds—in life. Great tunes. Good for you. Don’t ever lose that – please….and I’m sure you won’t.
Beautiful and soothing
author: linda halleyI love listening to it and thinking about Matt, the avian biologist following his passion and sharing it! We have a parakeet that was found on a neighbor's driveway and she IS your biggest fan!
Memories and fun!!!
author: Ghislain RompreThis is an outstanding collection of field notes. It speaks for the biologists and nature lovers in us, that spent time listening to nature and discovering beauty. This album is a must for anybody who ever been in the field, spending long hours watching birds, slept below the stars, or have been in remote environments where there's no human alterations! It is also a nice look at all aspects surrounding field work, our worries of natural wonders as much as found memories of a campfire and watching a bird for the first time. Since I spent many years in the tropics myself, the "Rainforest Song" was particularly touching... I'll listen to this CD for many more years, remembering "God, I loved being in the field!!" Thanks, Matt!!!
Loved It.
author: Kelsey FreyMy favorites were Birder's National Anthem and World Traveler. It's all enjoyable and a nice variety. The birding theme carried throughout is awesome. Love that it includes bird sounds and names and talks about scary environmental issues in a beautiful way... like a subtle reminder to keep these things conscious in our minds throughout our daily choices. Great purchase. I'm sure it's going to be a hit among the Shavers Creek staff. Thanks!!
