Footsteps

This is an album you will want to keep listening to again and again. Never mind the comparisons to Tom Waits - in spite of the obvious influences Footsteps asserts its own terrain with supreme confidence. Mathew\'s incredible rootsy voice flies over over American skies and digs into its earth. A truly magical and masterful piece of work.

With equal parts male folk rock, earthy pop, and a tad of blues and roots, Lee can be compared to Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen with a twinge of Americana in the neighborhood of Bob Seger and Van Morrison- all the while speaking from a personal place that is purely his own. With a strained, smoky voice that resembles a new life force straining against the heaviness of winter's blanket, his album sings of roads less traveled and common human experience. Performing Songwriter Magazine selected "Footsteps" as one of the nation's top twelve independently-released albums for the year 2000. Come find out why.
