Album Notes

Matthew Levine is known to some people as a jack-of-all-musical styles, master of...well you decide. He has won seven top awards in national songwriting contests, and has had classical, jazz, and pop pieces published.

Acquiescence features String Quartet No. 1, The Prophet of Shiraz, which won the 2003 Louisa Stude Serofim Composition Contest, undergraduate division. It also includes the a cappella piece Hidden Word #2 (SSA), which is published by Pavane Publishing under the title, O Son of Spirit, and distributed world wide by Hal Leonard.

Acquiescence is composed of 20th century neo-romantic chamber music: a 2-movement brass quintet, 3 choral pieces (2 to the Baha'i writings), a string quartet in 3 movements, a trio for clarinet, flute and piano, and a piano piece.
