Album Notes

13 Songs will give you confidence then tear you down. It will butter your waffles on both sides, even when you didn’t ask for it. This album will not only alternate between guitar-based and piano-based songs of love and daring, but will tug at your apron strings and ask you to play it again and again. You will obey.

“Why doesn’t it sound more like a cross between Snow Patrol, Ben Folds, and Jack Johnson,” you might ask. Frankly, it already sounds enough like that. So much that we couldn’t have said it any better ourselves, thank you.

“Hum to the Radio” starts the album off with a simple acoustic guitar, and weaves the lyrics and instrumentation in around it. By the time it’s over it feels more like an anthem, and you just might get the urge to hum along.

Continuing the radio-themed song titles, “Fall Asleep to the Radio” blends crunchy electric guitar with a keyboard lead, a la The Rentals or Motion City Soundtrack.

The heart-felt piano in the story, “I Think We’re Meant to be Together” and the droning Coldplay-like “Who Can You Believe” will have you hooked.

In a tribute to Matthew McCarthy’s former band, Playing for Audrey, “Won’t You Be Mine” is a remake of a hidden track from the band’s full length album.

Wrap it all up with the lullaby written for his twins, “It’s Time to Say Goodnight” will make babies fall asleep instantly.

Enjoy the ride!
