Album Notes

In 2009, author J.C. Hutchins and author / musician Matthew Wayne Selznick teamed up to create five songs with the conceit that these songs were written and performed by John Michael Smith, the folk-singer / handyman protagonist of Hutchins' novel "7th Son: Descent." J.C. Hutchins provided titles and conceptual ideas for each song, while Selznick wrote the lyrics and music and performed each one. The songs were released via podcast in October and November of that year in John Smith's name to help promote the release from St. Martin's Press of "7th Son: Descent."

Now, the secret's out and the songs are available as "Anyman - the John Smith E.P." True to the concept of John Smith being a journeyman folk-rock singer, Selznick presents the five songs in a raw style -- most tracks are simply vocals and guitars -- as if you were right there in a coffeehouse or club, digging John Smith.
