notes
On his sophomore release entitled This Time Around, guitarist Matt Marshak delivers funkier rhythms and several tracks with hip urban undertones. While the new album still features Matt's classic late-night smooth sound, there are a number of tracks with beats to get your blood pumping, fingers tapping and your feet contemplating the dance floor.
This Time Around features such well-known musicians as Bakithi Kumalo (Paul Simon, Chris Botti), Dwayne Kerr (Erikah Badu), Arty White (Alicia Keyes), Tim Regusis (Jonathan Butler, Najee), Dean Kraus (Taylor Dane, Phoebe Snow), Danny Sadownic (Richard Bona, Nelson Rangell), and Mario Cruz (Jaco Pastorius).
It also includes several tracks with impressive production credits. "Shake it Again" was co-written and produced by Carl Burnett (Boney James, Paul Brown, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford) and "Wonderful Tonight" was produced David Mann (Tower of Power, Chuck Loeb, Wayman Tisdale, Steve Cole).
Matt has been charming audiences in and around New York for the last few years and his popularity is steadily increasing. As part of his Best New Artist win, Matt was given radio airplay and opened for the Guitar & Saxes concert in New York's Bryant Park featuring Golub, Richard Elliot and Peter White where he received fantastic audience response.
Matt was the featured performer at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society MS Walk, in Jones Beach. This June he will also be opening for Spyro Gyra at the Brookhaven Amphitheater.

Awesome!!!!
author: Al CIncredible sound that just keeps on giving! Smooth, cool with a driving energy. I won't try and tell you who Matt sounds like as I think he has established a whole new sound for himself. The album is cool and polished with great support from some pretty accomplished musicians. A MUST BUY.
Soothing sounds for a great ride to and from work!
author: Janine AmonListening to this CD in rush hour traffic has made me look forward to my drive into work and the ride home! Who cares how miserable everyone else is on the roads... if they were inside my car they would be smiling!! Thanks Matt! You are truly talented!
Great Disc and Live Show
author: RogerHad heard about Matt Marshak on an internet radio station in Canada, bought the cd, loved it, and recently saw him in New York with Peter White and Jaared. Fresh, soulful young guitarist who reminds me of George Benson, Norman Brown, Eric Gale, and Larry Carlton.
Top Notch

Great sound!!
author: mizjazzfanOn first listen, each track was "catchy" in some way, which does not happen often. Great mix of tempos and moods!!
Simpy delicious, funky, city style smooth guitar grooves
author: Laney JohnstonThe CD is really superb. 14 tracks, and they are all quality songs. The first few tracks are very urban/city style numbers. Matt plays a song entilted Good Evening and a real interesting Tell Me Why All in a smooth funky way. The song Smile is simply heart touching. There is so many smooth vibes: urban, pop, old school funky jazz things, dancy vibes. The song Autumn Breeze is my favorite. Well worth the money. If you haven't seen Matt live, you have to. He is like Metheny, if the crowd is there he keeps on playing. The cd reminds me of a cross between Maxwell, George Benson, and Larry Carlton. Trying to find out about his first cd too. LJ
