A native Texan, born in San Angelo and raised in San Antonio, Matt Nolen began playing piano and writing songs at a very early age. Entertaining has always been in his blood. Whether it was pounding out new tunes on his living room Wurlitzer or playing gigs with his band around town, Matt developed an early passion for creating and performing music - a passion that has grown more intensely throughout his career.
His sound is a fusion of the music that has shaped his life, ranging from country, to rock, to pop, to R&B, to blues. Characterizing himself as a \"slave to the creative process,\" Matt relishes the opportunity to explore new styles, instruments and arrangements to create his unique blend. While very piano based, it incorporates engaging rhythmic motion with catchy musical hooks, memorable lyrics and melodies and deep moving chord progressions. But the constant element is his rich baritone vocal that effortlessly communicates the stories behind his songs.
After high school, Matt moved to Nashville to study recording and production techniques in the Music Business program at Belmont University. He further expanded his musical talents, learning to play other instruments, performing in popular venues around Music City, producing demos for songwriters and publishers and releasing three independent solo projects. In the summer of 2002, Matt moved to New York City where he arranged, produced and recorded music for television and independent films. After spending time back home in Texas, Matt returned to Music City in the spring of 2005 where he soonafter secured a spot on tour with the legendary John Fogerty playing keys, rhythm guitar and mandolin. He remains in that role on the current John Fogerty World Tour.
Songwriting has always been the life-blood of Matt\'s music. In March of 2007, Matt signed his first publishing deal with Blacktop Music Group and quickly made an impression with his unique sound and style. Matt\'s dedication to his craft is inspired by his firm belief that creativity has no boundary, that hard work and a deep desire to touch people\'s lives is the foundation of a successful career. And, as they say, it all begins with a song.

Great Listen
author: Turquoise Lady
Wow - subtle but oh so talented! Great songs written with sincere honesty and musical skill. "Why Me" humbles you to appreciate all your blessings. "What Love Is" makes us remeber that not everything is what we think it is at first. And "The Road Doesn't End" will have you hitting that repeat button. Definately worth the purchase and listening to again and again and again!!!

This cd is a revelation - it has taken up permanant residence in my cd player. I just don't want to listen to anything else at the moment. If you want a really relaxing laid back listening experience, then I thoroughly recommend This One Goes to 11. Definitely Matt's best offering to date - can't wait for the next one now!!!!!!!
