Album Notes

Matt Otis is a performing solo musician writing original music dealing with such themes as morality, religion, and philosophy. Matt’s latest album, “Morality Then Religion,” touches on the question if,

“Morality is a side product of religion, or is religion a side product of morality.”

The album is a delicately crafted description of the blinding effects, which organized religion has created throughout the history of man, whether it be the crusades, human sacrifice, inquisition, burning of witches, and the modern crisis of 9/11 .

Having played in areas in the world from China, Russia, Germany and various South American countries, Matt believes in working to unite the world through the language of music. He has raised money and awareness to various social injustices around the world through benefit shows and various speeches. Although major corporations dominate much of mainstream america, Matt believes that each individual truly does make an impact on the current status of the world. As insignificant as the mainstream media portrays humans, it is vital to our existence to assert our free minds and break free of our present conditioning.

Matt has independently booked various national tours to support his music, philosophy, and message. In addition to independent booking, Matt has wrote, produced and recorded all of his music independently. Playing instruments ranging from the guitar, piano, and harmonica, Matt Otis has been compared to artists such as: Death Cab for Cutie, Bob Dylan, and Bright Eyes.
