Album Notes

Driven by the critically acclaimed telecaster styling of Matt Rae, Guitar Player Magazine’s “Guitar Hero 2005” finalist, The Matt Rae Trio performs an infectiously countrified, surf-a-billy, blue-funk-pop-jazz set of original instrumental numbers as well as a slew of pure-pop-guitar standards that have wowed audiences throughout the northeast. Their debut CD entitled “Twang” garnered rave reviews throughout the guitar world. Following-up on the
success of “Twang” is their latest CD- "Tele-Pathic" which has already received critical acclaim from such industry publications as: Vintage Guitar, 20th Century Guitar, Pipeline, Guitar Player, Guitar-Nine and the list keeps growing.
Both albums have also enjoyed considerable airplay on indy radio stations as far flung as: WRFG in Atlanta, GA; KFJC in Los Altos, CA; WCNI in New London, CT just to name a few.
Even with two great albums to their credit, it is still their live performances that must be seen to be believed. The Matt Rae Trio has "delivered the goods" to audiences from Philadelphia's World Cafe Live, to New York's Town Crier, to Connecticut's Acoustic Cafe, Reddind Roadhouse, Sono Arts Celebration and The Norwalk Oyster Festival (all in the band's own back yard of Norwalk CT).
Matt has held the second guitarist seat in the Arlen Roth band and has shared stages and recorded with such guitar luminaries as: Debbie Davies, Johnny A, Levon Helm, Commander Cody, Redd Volkaert and Forrest Lee Jr. to name a few.
Matt has also been chosen as an endorsee from Peavey Musical Instrument Co. also a great honor.

Matt's music is also available on i-tunes!

I've recently become a fan of Matt Rae, I bought his music because of the sound bites we are allowed to hear on CDBABY. This isn't the Helecasters but Matt has some really thoughtful and tasteful licks. I like him most when he's got that quicker Tele-swing pickin' going.

Satisfaction!
author: Dan Schubart
I love a bit of twang, and there is nothing here to discourage that feeling. There is variation in tone and dynamics, lots of feel and a ton of chops without ever straying from the matter at hand. This one keeps migrating back to the top of the stack and I\'ll be looking for more. I see hints of Danny Gatton in this and it grabs at my sense of regret over the loss, but it\'s good to know that there are other wonderful and versatile players out there.
