We are all searching for something.
For Matt Shwachman, it is a search for melody, for motion, and for fulfillment of the mind. This search has forged by an acoustic guitar driven-blend of pop/rock which Skope Magazine states, "would impress fans of artists such as John Mayer, Tom Petty and Jason Mraz."
Although his artistic vision and style took years to take shape, Matt would taste success with his very first finished song. Although written years earlier, "Side of the Road" made its impact when it earned a spot on the hit TV series, One Tree Hill. Matt's latest song to hit TV, the emo driven ballad "Wait for Me (Hold On)", recently touched listeners across the country when it closed out the final scene of the season of MTV’s Real World Cancun.
Matt's new album, entitled Uncharted Territory, "is a journey about the process, not the end result," Matt says. "We are all ever-evolving, changing and growing people. It is this growth process that brings fulfillment, and in order to attain any sense of it, it must be earned." Matt has seen his music do well at college radio, with spins on over 200 stations. So much so, CMJ recently stated, "Acoustic-wielding, Boston-Based singer songwriter Matt Shwachman will be giving established heart-melters like One Republic and Five For Fighting a run for their money."
Matt has been earning his keep by hitting the pavement hard with his new band, cleverly titled the Matt Shwachman Band (MSB). MSB features Hugh Allen on bass, Mike Fiore on lead guitar and Dana Bonardi on percussion. MSB prides itself on being a very hard working band, and they have been keeping an active calendar to prove it. In a little over a year's time, they have already played well over a hundred shows, which include arenas, headlining festivals, playing colleges, universities, and schools, television shows, in addition to the top club venues in the North East.
MSB has shared the stage with Eve 6, Keith Kane of Vertical Horizon, and Jeffrey Gaines, amoung others. In addition to their busy calendar, MSB is currently in the recording studio working on their new CD, tentatively titled Are You Prepared, due out in early 2010.
