Matt Swindells

For the last ten years Matt Swindells has enjoyed a successful career as a freelance drummer. He is a versatile musician, playing drums in a variety of Jazz, Latin, Rock, Hip Hop and Punk bands. More recently Matt has also completed several UK and international tours with UK-based Electronica pioneers ‘Fila Brazillia’.

Drumming, however, is only one facet of Matt’s musicianship. Matt is also an original and accomplished singer songwriter. His debut CD ‘Matt Swindells’ is now available on this website. All titles are written and produced by Matt, who also plays most of the instruments on the album including: drums, vocals, guitar, keys and programming.

In addition to his own recording projects, Matt Swindells performed lead vocals on ‘Raising Lazarus’, a guitar-driven rock album written and produced by ace bassist Matt Bissonette. This CD – which also features Gregg Bissonnette on drums and includes Matt Swindells’ song ‘In My Pockets’ – can be purchased by following the Matt Bissonette links at: www.pancakerepairs.com.

Matt also appears on 2004s Dicks by Fila Brazillia playing drums and singing and co wrote some tracks on the album.

solid and deliciously mixable

What I like best about Matt Swindells' new album is that it works on many levels. (1) it's solid musically. There is a variety to the songs, and yet they all hang together as a group. The overall feel is cool, sophisticated, yet whimsical and not too serious -- (2) it makes a great soundtrack for life: a drive in the country, or a brunch at home with friends, and (3) it mixes well on shuffle with other disks. Try it with some Charlie Parker, Todd Rundgren, and Beck. "Money in my Tea" is what hooked me, but what really delights me about this album is (4) every song is too good to skip. There's a lot of stuff out there by famous people I can't say that about. Good on ye, Matty lad!

creative, catchy, and well crafted compositions, with a bit of humor...humour?

This is some very nice work from an obviously talented individual who has got what it takes to make it(as soon as he gets released from jail for kicking in that van windshield). plenty of great tunes, no two sound alike, Matt really keeps you guessing. I definitely like the XTC vibe that comes out on a few pieces. Plenty of layers and textures and clever lyrics on this CD. Very Fun! Good luck to you, Matt!
