Album Notes

After self publishing three CDs and scoring his first independent film, Matthew Woolsey is ready to share his music with the general public.
Introspective, melodic and simple, Matt plays simply for his love of music and the guitar. During the last eight years he began writing and recording his music and in the year 2000 he successfully produced his first CD titled “New Balance.” A collection of acoustic arrangements and contemporary instrumentals that can be enjoyed by a wide audience of listeners, “New Balance” can be heard in salons and spas throughout Northern California today.
The second-released CD titled “Guitar Melodies” is a blending of acoustic and electric compositions that range from the structured smooth jazz sound of “What’s Next” to the eclectic meandering “Play time.” A third follow up CD “City Life” produced in September 2001 attempts a more structured commercial sound that incorporates a traditional rhythm section as can be heard in selections such as “City Life” and “Urban Bumpkins.”
Born in Santa Cruz, California, Matt’s’ musical journey started at the age of 13 on a $7.00 garage sale guitar. Early musical influences included Hank Williams, Johnny Horton (thanks Dad) as well as Hendrix, Wes Montgomery, Segovia, Joe Pass and Kenney Burrell.
Woolsey attended college in Southern California and received private music lessons on and off for about 15 years before relocating to Northern California in 1988 where he now works and pursues his musical interests.
