A Project with Improvisation and Composition by M. E. Keller

Previous works of mine have switched to and fro from improvisation to composition and back. accent-figure-layer is an exploration of the spectrum between these extremes. The balance tips in favour of improvisation in the absence of extensive, written-out passages. On the one hand there are only sketched or described formal progressions, perfunctory notated phrases as starting points or interjections, graphics indicating a more or less determined or free character, literal instructions or impulses and free improvisation. On the other hand lies the uncompromisingly scripted unione e tremolo for violin and viola and NONONONO for violin solo.
