Album Notes

West coast Rock Radio Dj Max Volume (KOZZ, KDOT, KRXQ, KRZQ) is back with his 4th studio cd titled "Max Volume." In a recent interview he said "It's a double album in one cd." 2007's "Illuminaughty was very successful. the band did 70 shows in 18 months in support of it. We look forward to hitting the stage with this one."

The songs are diverse and go from the Allman Bros. sounding "Mama" to the Iron Maiden Steve Harris fueled "Cocaine Fever." "There's a lot of punk rock on the disc, because Troy Mowat (Legendary 7Seconds drummer) and I wrote the whole thing around the drums." The opener "Stevie Ray Van" is a funky fusion piece. "Free" explores the spoken word delivery not unlike the "Last Poets."

"The Coroner" is a spooky nod to his Father, Ralph Bailey (Chief Deputy Coroner L.A. County) who oversaw such cases as the Tate -Labianca (Manson Family) murders. Other tunes like the Stones sounding "Hittin' the Wine", and the Traffic meets Peter Green "Passion and Blood" stand out. "Punk Rock Slammin'" is a tribute to Troy's band 7Seconds, and "L' Air Du Temps" is textbook grunge and could have been on Nirvana's "Bleach."

"The Kids Keep Dying" an acoustic number visits the hopelessness of teenage suicide, while the poppy "Treasures Of Love" celebrates the heart and gives up lovers a song for their baby. This record flows so well, it's hard to stop listening. Max's label; Tadzhiq Music Group has got one that can compete with the majors in "Max Volume."
