Album Notes

Maxwell Adams is looming large. This young, multi-ethnic, quadric personality group is ready to cut its collective heart out and leave it on the table for the public to dissect. Stirring up tempers are charismatic Nando Pozos on guitar; wild n’ out Garrett Fujimura on bass; humble Mac Atoms on drums and artsy Kevin Gautschi on guitar and lead vocals.

Their hard rock glamour and heavy riffs are making a significant dent in local bay area venues such as Bottom of the Hill, The Pound, and Blake’s Telegraph. Their influences range everywhere from RKL, The Police, Tool and The Beatles all the way to contemporary rockers such as The Dillinger Escape Plan. Their style touches on more traditional pop song arrangements while still keeping obscure and dramatic changes a central theme to the band’s sound. The vocal hooks are riddled with anthems without ever getting repetitive or cliché. Not often does a band blend grinding metal riffs with melodic vocals without the delivery sounding forced. Maxwell Adams pulled it off.

That being said, their lyrics are a glut of information; they are heavy, catchy explorations on power, love and disorientation. Since their initial greeting to Oakland, California in September of 2004, the band has released a 5 song EP entitled: The Band Not the Man. With this, the rock quartet have plugged into a circuit board fan base harboring enough electricity to make you stand on edge. They have a romantic ideal to claim some praise. You are curious Maxwell Adams is relentless.

Maxwell Adams will be releasing their much-anticipated full-length album titled: Intellectual Hunger Strike, December 2006. This album was completely funded and recorded independently.

REVIEWS

Very consistent, never boring. The only downside is perhaps 2-3 minutes of unnecessary noise altogether, but it doesn't hinder the power of the record. Their songs are interesting and don't all sound similar.
