Album Notes

Mysti Mayhem is a uniquely talented young American singer/songwriter/guitar player. Her whole life has been centered around music, from off-Broadway stage performances in her early teens, graduating to rock and acoustic live gigs across the country. As a 19 year old in Florida, a chance meeting with the legendary Bo Diddley led to “The Originator” himself coaching her dynamic singing and onstage technique.

“Diversity” was funded by fans via the SellaBand online platform and community, and Mysti describes the album as “a compilation of over 24 years of collective thought and spiritual consciousness”. It’s to her great credit that she’s managed to achieve her goal with songwriting of the highest quality that’s overflowing with memorable hooks and soul searching ideas in equal measure. From the driving punch of ”Break These Chains” and the upbeat feel good groove of “Better Than Money” to the elegant warmth and simplicity of “Come Back Around”, the album more than lives up to its name.

Her voice and guitar playing are rightly very much to the fore, but there are also major contributions from Highway 101’s Cactus Moser on drums, the strings of Robert Britt and Brian Bromberg, Bill Bussman’s upright bass and mandocello by Shawn Spencer. The album was produced by Mysti in association with Cactus Moser and Chris Stamey, who also mixed the album at his Modern Recording studio.
