Album Notes

Welcome to an earth of music, one that remembers nature and keeps its face aimed at the sun. Surreal sound amidst the trees: romantic guitars, airy keys, melodic bass, and upbeat rock rhythms exist as the animals of May Pole. These San Diego natives migrated north to San Francisco summer of 2003. After signing with independent record label “880 Records,” they began recording last January; and now, May Pole comes to us with their debut "Mysterium Tremendum" emitting a vast array of emotion expressed through passionate vocal melodies amalgamated with ethereal and unconventional guitar passages. May Pole is comprised of 3 brothers, Indela Mass (vocals, guitars, piano), Xanias Missing Sound (guitar),Krimit the Kit(tubs, percussion), and friend, Jake Richmond(bass).

May Pole has performed at venues such as
San Francisco:
The Independent, Bottom of the Hill, Mezzanine, Broadway Studios, Studio Z, Red devil Lounge
Los Angeles/San Diego:
Whiskey a-go-go, Club 56, Coconut Tease, the Santa Monica Pier, LAVA Lounge, Belly up Tavern, Brick by Brick

Beautiful and Haunting, one of the best albums this year!

I am absolutely enchanted with this album! I am now a diehard MAYPOLE fan. I haven't heard music like this in quite a long time, the melodies evoke such emotion and beauty. This is an album to put on some headphones, close your eyes, and just get lost in their dark and wild forest. Kudos to John Lucasey for producing such a gorgeous album!

Wow, some new music that is original and creative!

I really enjoyed May Pole's debut CD. I am a big fan of Duncan Sheik and XTC, and I heard some similarities to them. I heard the lead track on MySpace, and decided to buy the CD right away. I never do that. The vocals are haunting, but beautiful. The lyrics are thoughtful and thougt provoking. It's so nice to hear something new and creative. And the production quality is excellent. I hope May Pole will come to Chicago one day so I can hear them live. Thanks for the great music! Can't wait to hear the next CD!

It's magic

Something tells me we are not in Kansas anymore todo. This album is my favorite album in years. I can't quite put my finger on what drug would be best to take while cranking this album in headphones. All I know is that it is a dreamy well moving record. I have a subtle sense that this album will never make it main-stream, and why should it, it's way to good for the average teenie-bop crowds that huddle around three chord songs in hopes that one day they become something else but ordinary. May Pole (mysterium Tremendum) is everything but ordinary, it's extrordinary.

A rare find these days

Intelligent well crafted music. There's some instantly memorable passages on an album that's never dull - all the tracks are strong and you can tell the band knew they were onto something. A subtle blend of rock, pop and sounds that wouldn't be out of place in a film soundtrack or a chillout compilation. These guys have a rare talent.
