Maz Mitrenko is one of middle England's best kept secrets.
A self confessed "blues traveller", he has played all over the blues map from Chicago to The Delta, gaining a unique insight into the music he loves as well as a warm welcome from the musicians he has played with along the way.
The spirit, vibe, voodoo, call it what you will, of the places he has experienced during his travels is evident in his playing to those in the know.
At a recent small gig in an English midlands town, a certain Mr Robert Plant was in the audience (and stayed for the whole set!!).
Maz makes no secret of the fact that his hero is the late, great, Irish bluesman, Rory Gallagher and not only includes several Rory tunes in his live set, but also likes to re-arrange and rock up old blues songs in the man's style.
This album is a well balanced mix of Gallagher tunes, not so obvious covers and original songs that would be an excellent addition to the CD collection of any fan that likes their blues HOT!!
"This band seems to have it all, subtle dynamics, emotional intensity and great tone."
Pete McKennan - Barefoot Reviews
"The Maz Mitrenko band typifies all that is good and cool about today's blues scene."
Toxic Pete's Review Site
"A superior guitar led trio."
R Jim Greaves - Blues in Britain magazine
"Rocking blues at it's best."
