Album Notes

Michael Bolivar has performed with many artists, both famous and aspiring, including his high school band (Evan P. Worthing), his college band (Prairie View A&M, Lou Rawls, The O’Jays, Billy Preston, Helen O’Conner, Aretha Franklin, Freddie Hubbard, Esther Phillips, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, and many others. By performing with such a wide variety of musicians, Michael has enjoyed the benefits of a diverse repertoire, which is reflected in his performing and recording career.
Michael’s talent is confined to only being a technician and an emotionalist but he communicates his personal energies in the performance. Very early in his musical career her learned the value of improvisational development using melody, space and time.
Because he started playing with his neighborhood friend and fellow schoolmate Michael Carvin, a great drummer, Michael Bolivar received an early opportunity to be rhythmically oriented in melodic and creative expression. These musical qualities have been vital in his desire to promote goodwill, express the oneness of being and entertaining, and to discover spiritual magic through musical technique.
Michael has maintained a loyalty and commitment for over 40 years to play the E6 alto saxophone professionally. His sound has become a voice that speaks to audiences about his emotions and intentions. Being aware of these qualities, Michael strives to be the best he can be, directing his intentions and actions towards good vibrations for himself and his neighbors in the universe.
It is with the greatest amount of love that he says, “thank you” for the opportunity to share his music.
