Female singer/songwriter Arlene McCann uses her eclectic style and intense lyrics to soothe listeners with her sweet voice and resonating guitar. The 27-year-old Philadelphia local has an acoustic sound that varies from pounding the anger and emotion through her melodic techniques.
McCann ranges from playing small intimate settings to larger venues across the United States such as World Café Live, bars, universities and cruise ships. She has a quirky stage presence that allows her to win over any crowd through her witty commentary and stories.
"Arlene McCann put on a great show at La Salle. Her musical styling offers a great mixture of something familiar and something new. Speaking as one who had first heard Arlene perform two years ago, her voice keeps on getting stronger, and her writing is ever-evolving.” Said Steve Scaduto, coordinator for Late Night La Salle University at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pa. “The intimacy of her performance makes one feel you are listening to private conversations between Arlene and the humanized version of her guitar ... We will definitely have Arlene back.”
Though McCann’s style is folky, with hints of rock and roll, she usually performs alone, accompanied only by her guitar but isn’t opposed to collaborating with special guests. Her inspirations and influences include Ani Difranco, Dar Williams, Dan Bern, Melissa Ferrick, the Indigo Girls, Sheryl Crow, Eminem, Hammel on Trial, Doug Norrie, Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, Tegan and Sara, to name a few. She attends live shows when an interesting artist comes her way and is open to new music and is forever trying new ways to create a new sound in her own song writing.
“I felt happy and relaxed sitting there just listening to the show, she’s not at all what people expect. Arlene’s a good mix of Ani Difranco, Dar Williams, and the Indigo Girls all thrown into one person,” said Meg Panichelli, president of West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Association.
McCann has been writing songs for as long as she can remember but didn’t pick up a guitar until her senior year in high school. However, she didn’t seriously start performing her music until roughly two years later and has yet to stop playing.
With the world changing around her each day, she is excited about the future and is wiling to roll with anything that comes her way. Since music is her passion, McCann will be playing guitar, singing and writing songs for the rest of her life. Not only does she write her own lyrics and play guitar, she also appreciates the hard work that goes into preparing an album and enjoys getting hands-on by illustrating the artwork for her albums.

Kick ass!
author: Mindy Campos
Soaked in Rain lived in my CD player for the entire summer. Asidefromyou was awesome but this is the best! Her songs are uniquely delicious and rocking this time around. "Righeous" is my favorite just because she really jams out in it and the lyrics are strikingly honest and catchy.

A solid folk CD showing a lot of growth by the artist
author: Mark Smith
Arlene's music has grown since her debut CD "aside from you". The music is fuller and Arlene makes better use of chord progression. The emotions on this CD are much deeper. Arlene has lived a lot in the past few years and it comes through – this is one deep woman.
My favorite track - Teach me to fly.

I love it!

The cover art grabbed me immediately, but the music kept me. Soaked in Rain has vulnerable themes and lyrics, toe-tapping music and glimpse's into Arlene's sense of humor. This CD experiments with new sounds and I love the confidence that allows the new music to succeed. I'm already finding myself singing along...
