Album Notes

No Plans At All is the new CD by central Pennsylvania's premier Trop Rock band, Dennis McCaughey and Tropical Soul.

This project brings to life seven new original songs by Dennis McCaughey, including the title track, No Plans At All, along with Bikinis Guitars and Tiki Bars, Two Weeks in Paradise, Coconut Joe's, Bahama Mama, Practical Dreamer and Table for Two. Also included this release is the original song, Fare Game, by Tropical Soul band member, Randy Zimmerman. The CD is rounded out by three cover tunes, AKA Smith and Rose's, Tropical Vacation, Jerry Jeff Walker's, Come Away to Belize With Me, and Scott Kirby's, Heart of A Beach Town.

The CD is produced by R Scott Bryan, the multi-instrumentalist from St. Louis, who toured with Sheryl Crow for five years and who also is featured on the CD playing bass, percussion, keyboards and accordion. Dennis McCaughey provides lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Randy Zimmerman provides vocals, guitar and harmonica, and Jere Groft of Lancaster, PA rounds out the project on drums and percussion.

Special guest performers on the CD include Coral Reefer Band members Peter Mayer and Doyle Grisham, who both currently tour and record with Jimmy Buffett. Peter adds some jazz guitar on Practical Dreamer with Doyle adding his special pedal steel magic to Table for Two. Singer/songwriter, John Frinzi, of Phillipsburg, NJ provides lead and harmony vocals on Coconut Joe's. John Patti, steel drum player of the band, Captain Quint, from Baltimore, MD performs on several of the tracks. The project also features harmony vocals by Lancaster's Heather Sneeringer, lead singer of the band, Copper Sky.

No Plans At All is the third CD release for Dennis McCaughey, following Days Like These (1995) and Tropical Soul (2000).

The band, Tropical Soul, hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania where trio members, Dennis McCaughey, Randy Zimmerman and Jere Groft perform between 75 and 100 times per year. They appear extensively in the Central Pennsylvania region in addition to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Washington, DC. They have opened for national artists such as Peter Mayer, Scott Kirby, Mac McAnally, Bill "Sauce Boss" Wharton, and Robert Greenidge and Michael Utley.

Each November finds them heading south to Key West, FL, where they have performed at the National Parrot Head Convention for the last six years. This is where the November 1 release of the CD will be held. Each year they have opened the convention's Street Fest, held in front of Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville on Duval Street. This event draws between 3,000 and 4,000 people, and in 2002, they opened for none other than Jimmy Buffett himself. In November 2004, they were joined on stage by Tina Gullickson, Heather Perry, Jim Mayer, and TC Mitchell, all members of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band.

I have seen Tropical Soul the last 3 years at MOTM street fest and have loved them. Since they are too far away from where I live, this CD will bring their music to our Parrothead gatherings. Thanks guys, and keep up the great work. Hope to see you in Key West next year.

"No Plans at All" is a wonderful record that brings you right up to the water line on the beach to join Dennis, Randy and Scott for a Tropical (Soul) Drink. It has truly been in my CD player since I got my copy... If you are reading this and thinking about the purchase, just do it, it will be in your CD Player until the next Tropical Soul record... Great job guys, a little bit of escapism right over the CD player...
