Album Notes

“My Dixie Darlin” is Janet’s tribute to the many pioneering Women in music who have paved the way for people like her. It is her way to say a big thank you to these ladies for Their love of the music and for giving a voice to things that women felt, and expressing it through this genre of music with emotions that brought a whole new dimension to real acoustic music...a woman s genuine touch. Songs like Mama s Hand, Who ll Watch the Home Place, and To Daddy ..... these were some of the genuine songs that she chose, that spoke of a woman’s true life blues...real songs that Janet loves to perform.

Janet is joined by her husband, Serge Bernard on instruments and harmony vocals with special guest J.P. Cormier, also on instruments and arrangements. One of the finest people you’d ever meet, J.P. is one of Canada’s most soulful acoustic artists. His works can be found at www.jp-cormier.com. Also on this project is Kim Albert & Anne-Marie Valois on harmony vocals. Mr. Tom T. Hall also makes a very special appearance on a song he co-wrote with his lovely wife Ms. Dixie Hall entitled “Scenes from an Old Country Graveyard”.

Janet McGarry is an integral part of Eastern Canada’s bluegrass scene, has released six cds to date, and makes regular appearances at over 30 venues each year including over 8 major bluegrass festivals. She keeps perfecting her art while promoting and preserving her style of music. Janet will be returning to the studio this winter, with her husband Serge Bernard, for yet another great project and new songs in traditional music.
