Pastor Kelvin McGee aka Pastor "K" was born on June 1, 1961 to the proud parents of Dr. Eddie V. McGee and Mrs. Blanche D. McGee in the city of Bakersfield, CA. Kelvin has been playing the piano, composing songs, and musical plays for 26 years. Since early childhood, Kelvin has been active in the community and in the ministry as well as music.
In 1979, Kelvin received the C.O.A.M. Award from the Mexican American Foundation which was a special honor given by the city to only a few students a year for community service. In 1989, he composed a song about Martin Luther King entitled: “Oh Dear Martin." The impact was overwhelming. After completion of the composition, the city newspaper did a half page article on Pastor “K”. In 1989, Kelvin performed “Oh Dear Martin” in Washington, D.C. for the National Trio Day Conference, and in Sacramento, for the National West Stop Conference, held in Sacramento, for then Congressman Willie Brown. In 1990, he was inducted into the “Who’s Who Among Rising Americans”, for his musical and commutative accomplishments. In 1991, he was ordained to eldership by the Churches of God In Christ. In 1994, he joined matrimony with Pamela Milligan, M.D. To this union, two beautiful sons were born named Jordan Brian and Jaylon Dean. In 1994, Pastor “K” was also blessed with a spiritual daughter who he regards as his real daughter named C’aira Converson-McGee.
In 1999, Pastor Kelvin McGee authored a book entitled: “C.O.G.I.C. (Church of God In Christ) “Unsanctioned Issues”, Biblical or Trivial? This book was picked up by Milligan Books Publishing. For a time it sold through Barnes and Nobles Book Stores, and B-Daltons Book Stores through out the nation. In 2002, he received Bakersfield City’s Performing Arts Award presented by the African American Network for his composition entitled: “We’ll Raise Our Flag” dedicated to the victims of “9/11” and used it to raise funds for the Red Cross.
Also in that same year, he received the “Mayor Proclamation Award” for his musical play entitled: “Ten Plagues of Egypt” which premiered at the Fox Theater in Bakersfield. In 2003, he took 1st runner up in the TBL Talent Search Semi – Finals for the West Coast Area. In July of 2010, Pastor "K" graduated with his Bachelor of Theology Degree from the St. Paul Seminary located in Oxnard, CA.
